Cert III Civil Construction – General
What is it?

The Cert III General course includes at a wide range of training modules. The aim here is to give you the skills you need to become an adaptable, well-rounded professional in the construction industry. From getting your dogging licence, to learning how to operate a telescopic handler, the Cert III General will turn you into a highly skilled construction pro.

What’s involved?

The Cert III General course involves a diverse range of training components. Here are some of the components that are unique to this course, and not included in the Plant course:

  • Licence to perform dogging
  • Licence to perform elevating work platform
  • Forklift licence
  • Licence to perform rigging – intermediate level
  • Implement traffic management plan

Cert III Civil Construction – Plant
What is it?

Plant refers to machinery, equipment or apparatus used for an industrial activity. In construction, plant typically refers to heavy machinery and large equipment used on construction sites – think cranes, excavators and bulldozers. The primary function of plant work in construction is getting sites ready for building and moving materials from A to B.

Thus, the Cert III Civil Construction Plant course focuses more on this aspect of construction.

What’s involved?

The Cert III Plant course involves training components that are more specific to plant work, involving large machinery. Here are some of the components that are unique to this course, and not included in the General course:

  • Carry out basic levelling
  • Carry out manual excavation
  • Conduct backhoe/loader operations (LB)
  • Conduct civil construction excavator operations
  • Conduct rigid haul operations
  • Conduct civil construction wheeled front-end loader operations (LL)
