why choose construction training international?

Construction Training International is one of Melbourne’s most prestigious construction education institutions.
From offering Nationally Recognised Training, to providing the best on-site construction simulation in Victoria, CTI is proud to deliver outstanding construction education.

Here are just some of the reasons to choose CTI for supercharging your career in construction:

Nationally Recognised Training

Get trained in Victoria, work anywhere in Australia. We offer Nationally Recognised Training under the VET (Vocational Education and Training) quality framework. This means your qualifications are recognised all over Australia, allowing you to work in any state or territory you wish.

Government-subsidised training

We also offer certain eligible students government-subsidised training, and we encourage students with disabilities to apply for this. If you’re eligible, you could save a huge chunk of change on your tuition fees, letting you get qualified without a massive financial commitment.

World-class construction facilities

CTI boasts one of Victoria’s greatest construction education facilities, including our world-class construction site simulation. We’ve got a firm belief that hands-on experience should be given to students before they land their first job on the site. That’s why we’ve invested so much energy into our construction site simulation, giving students the chance to hone their skills in all areas of construction and become masters before they’ve even graduated! From crane operation to earthmoving, our training site allows you to get a taste of real-life work on the construction site.

Variety of construction courses available

At CTI, we know how important it is to be a versatile player on the construction site. That’s why we encourage our students to become all-rounders, and make the most of the variety of construction training courses on offer. From scaffolding to earthmoving to crane operation, we can train you to do just about any role on the construction site. We also offer qualifications like Cert IIIs in Civil Construction, helping you take your construction career to even greater heights.

Experienced, dedicated tutors

Along with the best facilities, we also proudly hire the best and most experienced tutors. Our tutors have a reputation for being knowledgeable and experienced, but they’re also incredibly helpful, supportive and dedicated in their roles as educators. Through their guidance, you’ll learn how to become a weapon on the construction site, in any course you choose.

Refresher courses available

Are you qualified but just need to redo your ticket or brush up on some skills? No worries – Construction Training International has got you covered. We have a range of refresher courses available, letting you get back into the swing of things. And, of course, we offer white card and yellow card training, too.

Bringing the training to you

Need workplace training at your worksite? CTI can accommodate for group trainings for employees, making it easy to get your staff qualified quickly and efficiently!

Flexible Training Options: On-site and Online

Live rurally? Prefer studying at home when you can? Love doing everything in-person? Whatever your study style, Construction Training International has flexible options to accommodate you.

Construction Training International delivers course content both on-site and online. This means you can get qualified in construction your own way!

We’re proud to be able to deliver course content that fits in with the students’ lifestyles. It’s what makes CTI one of the preferred Registered Training Organisations for construction in Victoria.

Online course content

We like to keep your training flexible, with plenty of online content options across many of our construction courses. Construction training often involves theoretical course content, much of which can be done online. This allows students to keep their learning flexible – we won’t drag you all the way to class just to fill out a worksheet!

Mobile training available

If your company needs employing training at your premises, we can accommodate for this, too. Just contact CTI to discuss your options and ensure you’ve got the right equipment and facilities available.

On-site attendance

On-site attendance is another essential part of construction training. Since construction is such a hands-on industry, all your practical training will be done at our Riddells Creek construction simulation site (one of the best in Victoria). For these modules, on-site attendance means you get to experience what it’s really like to be on a construction site, giving you practical experience before you’ve even landed your first job. Your trainers will instruct you on how to operate industry-standard machinery and equipment on our top-class simulation site.

Options for rural and interstate students

Heading to Melbourne from a rural area, or from interstate? Construction Training International gives a warm welcome to all of our non-local students. We know what it’s like to come from so far away, and that’s why we also offer accommodation on-site. Options for on-site accommodation include our two-bedroom shared cabin at $80 per night and out Lake House for $120 a night.

Who can benefit from Construction Training International’s flexible training?

CTI’s flexible training options are perfect for a range of individuals and companies:

FAQs on Licensing & Certification

If you’ve got a question about licensing and certification, please refer to our FAQs here.

We’re also happy to answer any questions you have, so feel free to write to us or give us a call.

Are your courses nationally recognised?
Yes. All courses provided by Construction Training International are recognised across Australia. This allows you to live in any state or territory while working in construction.

This depends on the licence in question, but most licences are valid for 5 years before a refresher is required

  • High Risk Work Licences (including Cranes, Rigging, Scaffolding): Valid for 5 years
  • White Card: Does not expire
  • Forklift Licence: Valid for 5 years
  • EWP Licence: Valid for 5 years
  • Marine Licence: Valid for 5 years
Some certifications need renewing every so often. Most of these will require a refresher course to be completed after 5 years.
Today, the terms ‘ticket’, ‘licence’ and ‘certification’ are often used interchangeably in construction, but there are some slight differences between them. A ‘ticket’ is industry slang for a licence, which is a legal requirement to perform certain high-risk work (like operating a crane or forklift) A certification (or ‘cert’ for short) is a qualification (like Certificate III in Civil Construction) which proves your competency in a particular field but may not be a legal requirement to work.

Yes, age requirements vary by course:

  • Most High Risk Work Licences: Minimum 18 years
  • White Card: Minimum 14 years
  • Certificate III courses: Minimum 17 years
  • Marine (Boat) License: Minimum 12 years
  • PWC: 16 years

Physical requirements vary by course, but most construction courses generally require:

  • Ability to climb ladders and work at heights
  • Capability to lift items and move equipment
  • Good balance and coordination
  • Adequate vision (with or without correction)
  • Adequate hearing (Ability to hear safety signals and instructions)
