Lost White Card? Start with these 2 checks
Before you pay for a new course or call around training providers, check what you already have. First, look for a copy of your Statement of Attainment. This is the training document issued by the Registered Training Organisation after you passed CPCWHS1001 or CPCCWHS1001 – Prepare to Work Safely in the Construction Industry. It can help confirm where and when you completed your training. Second, check whether you have a photo, scan, email, or old job file that shows your card details. You might previously have sent a copy to an employer, labour hire company, site supervisor, or apprentice coordinator at some point. A quick check in your emails can save time. Search for terms like:- White Card
- construction induction
- Statement of Attainment
- CPCWHS1001
- CPCCWHS1001
- WorkSafe

The current replacement plastic card fee for construction induction as $0.If you completed training in Victoria
If your original White Card was issued through a Victorian approved RTO, contact WorkSafe Victoria and give as much detail as you can. Useful details include your:- Full name used at the time of training
- Date of birth
- Current and previous address
- Approximate training date
- Name of the RTO, if you remember it
- White Card number, if you have it
If you trained in another state
If your card was issued outside Victoria, contact the regulator or RTO from that state or territory. White Cards are generally recognised across Australia, but replacement cards are usually handled by the state or training provider that issued the original card. A Victorian provider may not be able to replace a card issued in New South Wales, Queensland, or another state. How to find your White Card number
If you’re trying to find your White Card number, start with the places where the number is most likely to appear:- A photo or scan of the original card
- Your Statement of Attainment
- Old onboarding forms
- Emails sent to employers or labour hire agencies
- Site induction portals you’ve used before
- Records held by the RTO that trained you
What if you only have your Statement of Attainment?
Your Statement of Attainment is useful, but it may not replace the physical card for every site or employer. Some sites want to see the White Card itself. Others may accept the Statement of Attainment while you organise a replacement. That decision is usually up to the site, employer, or principal contractor. If you’ve lost your White Card but still have your Statement of Attainment, keep it somewhere easy to access. It can help when you contact WorkSafe, speak to your original RTO, or explain the situation to a supervisor. It also helps prove that you completed the correct nationally recognised unit.Do you need to redo White Card training?
In many cases, no. A lost White Card doesn’t automatically mean you need to redo the course. You may need to complete training again if your record can’t be verified, if the original training wasn’t accepted, or if you’ve been away from construction work for a long time and need to refresh your knowledge. Construction induction training in Victoria must be delivered face to face through an approved RTO. Online White Card courses are not accepted, and WorkSafe will not issue a Victorian White Card if the course was not completed through an approved RTO.How to avoid the same problem next time
Once your replacement card arrives, take a few minutes to set yourself up properly. Keep a digital copy of your card and training documents in 2 places. For example, save one copy in your phone files and another in cloud storage. Use a clear file name like “White Card – Your Name” so it’s easy to find later. It also helps to send a copy to your own email address with the subject line “White Card copy”. That makes it much easier to search if you ever need to find your White Card details again.- Take a clear photo of the front and back of the card
- Save your Statement of Attainment with the card photo
- Keep the original card in a wallet, ticket folder, or site document pouch
- Update your employer if you receive a replacement card with confirmed details
