5 Tips For Choosing A Construction Training Course

Pattern

In today’s day and age, we’re overloaded with choice when it comes to career paths. While certain professions have become obsolete, like being a milkman or a typewriter factory worker, more jobs have been created thanks to technology advances, the internet and a tonne of other factors.

One career path that has been around forever and will continue to be in high demand is construction. People need buildings. We build them!

So, if construction is a path you’re keen to follow, you need to start off by choosing the best construction training course. Here, we give you 5 tips for doing so.

1) Assess what you want out of the course

The first thing to do when choosing a construction training course is to think about what your goals are. Whether you want to start off small and realistic, with aims of getting qualified in operating a forklift, or have big, bold dreams like starting your own building company, it’s important to have a think about what you want to get out of your course.

2) Make sure it’s a Registered Training Organisation

Make sure you choose a Registered Training Organisation (RTO). All legitimate, nationally-accredited courses are delivered by RTOs – a certificate which is given by the government to say that this training organisation provides high-quality, industry-standard training. While there aren’t many ‘cowboy’ construction training groups out there (it’s highly illegal), you still need to beware.

3) Look for highly experienced tutors

In other places of higher learning, like university, it’s not uncommon for your tutors to have literally zero practical experience and have, instead, just completed their degrees themselves. How can one teach something if they’ve never actually done what they’re teaching? Experienced tutors who have gained real-world skills are what you want to look for when choosing a construction course.

4) Hands-on approach to learning

Construction training should be a mix of theoretical and practical study. There’s no point in knowing the ins and outs of operating a dump truck on paper if you never actually get to sit in one. Construction Training International have a hands-on approach to learning, offering state-of-the-art equipment and a real-life, simulation construction site to give you true practical construction experience.

5) Competitive prices

And finally, don’t go anywhere that promises to deliver a ‘premium’ training experience for rip-off prices. Construction training prices should be very similar across the board, so look for an RTO that offers competitive, fair prices.

Where should Victorians go to get top-notch construction training? Construction Training International! They’re Victoria’s favourite team in training, helping you get qualified and get out into the workforce sooner. With real-life training facilities, the most dedicated, experienced staff, and affordable rates, CTI give you the training and confidence you need to begin your career path in construction.
