Your pathway to safe construction work
A White Card is the mandatory construction induction card you need to work on any building or civil construction site in Australia. In Victoria it is issued after completing the nationally recognised unit CPCWHS1001 – Prepare to Work Safely in the Construction Industry. Construction Training International (CTI) offers a WorkSafe‑approved, face‑to‑face course that meets all regulatory requirements and equips you with the knowledge and confidence to start work safely.
Why choose CTI?
- RTO No. 7107 – CTI is a Registered Training Organisation with more than two decades of experience.
- Face‑to‑Face Delivery – WorkSafe Victoria does not accept online White Card courses. Our training is delivered in a classroom environment at our Riddells Creek facility.
- Expert trainers & facilities – Our instructors are known for their experience and supportive teaching style. Practical activities take place on a full‑size construction simulation site.
- Same‑day Statement of Attainment – Pass the assessment and you’ll receive a Statement of Attainment on the day, allowing you to start work immediately. The plastic White Card will arrive by mail within a few weeks.
What You’ll Learn
The White Card course is designed to give you a solid foundation in workplace health and safety. Topics include:
- Understanding WHS rights, responsibilities and roles – your duty of care and that of others.
- Identifying hazards and assessing risks – recognising common site hazards and understanding basic risk‑control measures.
- Implementing control measures – using safe work practices and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Communication and reporting – following WHS communication processes and reporting unsafe situations.
- Incident and emergency response – knowing what to do when accidents or emergencies occur.
This knowledge helps ensure you work safely and reduces the risk of injury to yourself and others.
Who Needs a White Card?
Anyone entering a construction site whether you’re a labourer, apprentice, subcontractor, supervisor or visitor must hold a White Card. It’s a legal requirement under federal and state WHS laws. WorkSafe Victoria confirms that only face‑to‑face courses delivered by approved RTOs result in a valid White Card. Online courses are not accepted.
You must be at least 14 years of age to enrol. If you’re under 18, a parent or guardian will need to consent to your participation.
